Ben Moir Instrument: Guitar and Bass
Ben is the bass player for Sydney band Hurst, who is just about to put their new EP out July 13th! Check out their Facebook here :)
How long have you been teaching at Maxx Music? About 2 and a half years.
When was the first time you realised you wanted to play music? I can’t remember when, I think I was probably around 10-12, but I was at the bowling alley and David Lee Roth’s music video for ‘Just Like Paradise’ and when I saw Steve Vai’s solo on his triple neck love heart guitar, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
Favourite Gig you’ve played/ Worst Gig you’ve played? My favourite gig was probably opening up for Ball Park Music at a sold out Metro Theatre. I’ve had some doozies but the worst was probably when we got cut short not because we weren’t good but we had everyone at the RSL dancing and no one was on the pokies...
Who was your musical hero growing up? My musical heroes growing up were probably on either end of the spectrum, being Gene Simmons/Kiss, and bassist Billy Sheehan.
Why do you think people should come and learn at Maxx Music? It’s just a fantastic environment from the time you walk in, with fantastic teachers across the board.
